Time flies..its a brand new year again and restarting everything from January. Its been a tough 2011 personally and well great that its over. Loads of take away lessons and I am sure 2012 is going to be a DYNAMIC year ahead. Well 2011 was the year I made the switch from my old profession - accounting and being the 1st year of the move, there were lots of things to learn and settle. It was not easy to begin with 俗语说的好- 万事起头难. I won't say for sure 2012 is going to be smooth sailing with all the sayings that recession is on its way and the crisis in Europe looks bleak. But I believe..I am going to make it!!!! oh well..let me put up some of the snapshots of the significant things that happened in 2011->

~Been away for a while~

Guess I've been away for sometime but I've been kept happy by work albeit rather busy.

Nothing much happened to me apart from some changes be it good or bad.

A couple of weeks back, there was a new arrival in my family and since her coming, the household have been spilling our attention on her. Even for myself I have been buying things for her instead of myself. That isn't too bad cause it takes away the self-centered-ness in me. :) Other than the new arrival at home, the remaining changes are:

1) I had a change of my keyboard instructor. For some who know I have been learning at this school "Play by Ear" since the beginning of this year and within just this year alone, till date I had changed 2 instructors. My first instructor resigned. As for my 2nd one, i requested for the change. (oops! it wasn't very nice) but the reason I wanted a change was because I wanted an instructor who is able to teach me mandarin pop songs. But guess what! Besides being able to teach me Mandarin pop songs, my instructor is a christian as well who plays for his church and so...he is able to teach me how to play praise & worship songs. So blessed right. To add on to that he felt that it was a waste of time for me to be at level 1 and therefore promoted me to level 2. :)

2) This is the 6th month with my current company and yes..it's confirmation time. Seriously, I love my job but of course with loving my job it comes with stress. Afterall, mine is a sales job and there are targets to meet every month. I must say I should be glad there wasn't a single month whereby I didn't close anything but there was a month whereby my numbers was particularly low. (all thanks to the "thing" that happened in June/July). I must admit that there were times whereby I asked God if this was where He wants me to be. Or should I just go back to my old profession and if this is what He wants me to be doing, then let me see my numbers cause at the end of the day, sales = numbers! You have your numbers, you stay. You don't have, you go. It's cruel but yet it's reality. I am glad God gave me relatively good numbers for th month of September and October and i finally did my confirmation on Friday. :) So what's next up in the coming days?

The key thing for me in the next 6 months is to be able to establish myself in my field of work. Trying not to be too ambitious, doing what is potentially beyond my means, I didn't dare plan too far ahead. Now the pressure is on to build and bill. The laughters will make it easier...

How to write a proper/decent resume

As many of my readers know, I've switched to being a Recruitment Consultant / Headhunter as some of you know it as for a good 7 months. In these 7 months, minus all the weekends, I look at resumes everyday. Tons of resumes everyday and to my horror/ disappointment...I realised many people do not know how to write a decent resume..Some tips as per below to "beef" up your resume and attract people to it.

1. I'm not too sure if some of the applicants has realised this statement - "Interested applicants, please send your detailed resume with your last drawn salary/current drawn salary, expected salary in MS WORD FORMAT to..." Well, there must be a reason why recruiters are asking for resumes in WORD FORMAT and if that's what's required, follow the instructions. Don't give your resume in PDF.

2. Photos. Yes that's the next thing I am going to talk about. Especially for front office kind of jobs whereby you meet customers. Front office jobs would include positions like customer service, receptionist, sales etc. Give a decent photo or let me put it PROFESSIONAL. Don't put those "cutie-pie" photos.

3. Your resume should be in chronological order from the most recent job. Ok let me repeat myself - FROM THE MOST RECENT POSITION. Do indicate the duration - MM/YY to MM/YY, designation, to whom you report to and your responsibilities of what you have done. Responsibilities should be stated in bullet/ point form for easy reading instead of writing it in paragraphs. Include your reason for leaving as well and if possible write your achievements in your respective jobs!

4. Give a brief summary of your skills. Ie. If you are good in MS Office, do state it like Word/Excel/ PowerPoint/Access. Or like you are applying for accounting positions, state the accounting system that you have used before - Oracle/ SAP/ Hyperion/ JD Edwards.

5. In addition to Pt 4, another thing you should write about will be like what are the things you are good at. Example would be an Accountant position. Let's say you are an auditor who wants to go into commerical. You can write that you are 1) Well versed in Accounting Standards 2) Reviewed consolidation for eg: no. of entities.. etc

6. Traits and Personality. These will include things like -> Meticulous, Pro active, Responsible, Excellent team player, Analytical mind etc.

7. Important thing -> Education!! Yes I can't emphasize how important this position this. If you can remember the duration like MM/YY to MM/YY which you did your education it will be Best. If you can't the year of graduation at least! Include the institution which you did your studies at and be clear what's the degree you are pursuing. An example will be: Degree in Commerce - Majoring in xx or Bachelor of Science - Majoring in Banking & Finance. Yes, be sure of what is the degree that you are getting. It will cast doubts on the HR personnel (like what!!! this person don't even know what degree they are pursuing. WTH!!!)

8. Please try to use standard fonts in your resume writing except for headers. Using standard fonts shows consistency. Remember you are writing a professional resume after all. Don't use fancy fonts and do check your alignment. It's a pain when resumes presented are in a MESS.

9. PLEASE!! When you are selected for the interview, do go read up about the company. Go to the website and find out more. It shows you are interested in the Company and in the position on the "plate". Even if its just things which are written on the website, its ok.

Well, that's all about it on how to write a proper/decent resume. So good luck to all of you, job seekers out there!

OMG!! I simply just love my nails!!! Yap...after 4 weeks of my "wedding" look alike nails from my previous post, the gelish was almost coming off and once again, I went back to Milly's to re-do. :))) Was looking for Rebecca but she wasn't around so ended up Tina did it for me!! She's fast and also very detailed and I'm in love with them. As usual I couldn't decide on what I wanted, so Tina gave me 2 magazines, initially the design I wanted was this--->

the one in green. looks sweet right. but I didn't end up doing this. told Tina, the next time I want this design.

after much choosing and viewing past designs done by other people..i finally chose the following design..and the theme was PURPLE!! But i told Tina I don't know how to match so she has to decide for me and the talented Tina did this--->

~addicted to gelish~

You know what? Ever since i started doing gelish nails, I'm so addicted to it..The reason? Gelish nails can last up to 3 to 4 weeks! Another advantage of gelish nails is that after the session, you don't have to worry that you accidentally touched something and it gets scratched coz it gets dried upon putting your hands under the UV light. No worries about doing household chores etc..After like 3 times of doing gelish, I did try to revert back to the classic manicure session for once, but its just ONCE. Well because the colour just came off in less than 3 days. (can you imagine I ain't someone who does house hold chores and this happens??)

I ain't someone who signs packages - reason being I can go try different salons such that I know which is a good one and recently I found one which I really like and somehow there was an urge to sign on a package with them!!! So unusual of me :p but well its true leh!!! It just started off that I wanted to redo my pedicure and because I have keyboard lessons at bugis every saturday and happen to have time, therefore, I pop over to the salon to check out if they were free. BINGO!! They were and their charges are reasonable.

yap..that was the end product. love the manicurist dedication cause she was very detailed and she really scrub and painted my nails well.

A week later, because of a friend's wedding, I went back to them to get my nails done again!! too bad the girl who did my pedicure wasn't around therefore another girl did it for me...but she was just as good. I couldn't decide on the design and she did it for me. All I told her was that I wanted french manicure. Something simple but yet elegant...and see the end product?

~woohoo~ after a long break from blogging I am back! (if not for my mc today, I guess I hardly have time to sit in front of the laptop to blog). Sorry for those who missed me coz I was really busy. Chasing after sales everyday and also fitting into the new environment. Time flies.I have been with my new Company for almost 1.5 months. Till this very day I still love my job alot. It's not jus the $$ lah..I like meeting people. let's get back to where i left off..my Hong Kong trip that happened about 2 months back.

Day 2 of Hong Kong was spent @ Shenzhen with my Brother but before I made my way to Shenzhen..i decided to have some authentic Cantonese Dim Sum while waiting for my Brother to msg me to make my way over to Shenzhen..afterall..I am in the land of Hong Kong. Did some research on the night before of some recommended places and found this Dim Sum place near the hotel I was staying..

After a fulfilling breakfast, I proceeded to cross the borders and met my Brother @ Shenzhen. Followed him to check in to his hotel room and gosh..the receptionist thought I was a xxx! Check out his room in Shenzhen's hotel

We ran around the whole day and did some serious stuff and soon it approached dinner time and my Brother being so familiar with Shenzhen brought me to eat Seafood. Good and cheap seafood. The bad thing is, I ain't a BIG eater.

Slept late on Day 2 and woke up early on Day 3 for Hong Kong Disneyland! Yes abit "sua ku" but I have never been to Disneyland. Though I have been to Hong Kong 4 years ago but never had the chance to come here cause it was such a short stay. Therefore though I was alone this time round, I wanted to make good use of this opportunity to pay Hong Kong Disneyland a visit.

Hong Kong (20042011 - 23042011) - Part 1 or 4

After being in headhunting for a good 4 months, I must say I enjoy what I am doing though the initial phase was tough. Not many people will know but recently, I changed Company. Still in headhunting, but in a more prestigious Company. Bigger and better brand name and the focus is different. My main specialization will be in the area of "Accounting and Finance" for commercial Companies but I still do handle different positions like IT etc.

Just before I embarked on my new journey with a new Company. I was blessed with a trip to Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Not exactly a holiday but because I needed to help my mum settle some business things in Shenzhen. Therefore the trip there was necessary. I love Hong Kong not only because its a shopping haven but because the food suits my taste bud. Simple reason -> they serve authentic cantonese food and everyone speaks decent cantonese. This was my 2nd time to Hong Kong, the first being about 4 years back whereby I was there when they celebrated their 10th year return and Hong Kong as usual was PACKED!! 人山人海的感觉. This time round I wanted to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui but the hotels were simply too expensive. Thus, I decided to stay at Yau Ma Tei. The hotel was quite convenient but as usual..the hotel rooms in Hong Kong are small. By the way, I finally fulfilled my wish to travel alone. (1 of my desire was to go on a trip alone before I turned 30). Well though I've already reached 30 but finally I did it this year!

Food on Cathay Pacific. Not bad and I would say comparable to SQ. I was hoping that they will transfer me to business class since I was a single traveller but FAT HOPE!!

Didn't know I was able to to pre checked in with Cathay which I didn't and ended up with a window seat.

The toilet in my room. Literally it was small. There wasn't even a proper space to stand and bathe and I ended up sitting on the toilet bowl while taking a shower.

The hotel I stayed in is called Casa Hotel. They are very conveniently located and its about 1 min walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR Station.

After settling down in the hotel, I decided to take my lunch and proceeded to Mongkok. Settled it at a 茶餐厅.

ice lemon tea was fantastic. the only 茶餐厅 which serves ice lemon tea which is comparable is the one @ vivo. Can't remember its name though.

Had a quick bite and proceeded to Central as I wanted to visit Madame Tussauds which was located at The Peak. I think I was quite proud of myself that throughout the whole trip I took the MTR most of the time and hardly had to board a cab. :)

This is like Raffles Place Interchange. But its 10 times more packed! Central is a place like the CBD area. All the financial instituions are located there. You will know what I mean when you see the pictures below.

After about 10 mins of walking, I finally found the station to the Peak Tram. Bought my tickets which was inclusive of the tram ride and into the museum costing HKD $185. This is how the tram rail looks like.

Turning 3-0

2011 marks the year of many new beginnings. I kicked off the year with a change in career path. Was in auditing for a good 6 years, move on to commercial accounting for another 2 years and now-->Recruitment which is sales. So far so good just that there were hiccups here and there and I must admint that during the 1st month, the thought of "Did I make a right move" kept ringing in my mind. The next big thing for me was going for my 1st trip of the year - Bali (4 days 3 nights) which was planned long ago in July 2010 and before I could close my eyes, the bells for the big 3-0 rang before my eyes. The plan was to have a big celebration. (ie. having a pink party or even a hello kitty party) but none of these took place. Just simple celebrations with people who are in my life and tons of well wishes.

So does turning 30 makes me feel older?

Looking at my pink IC, I can't deny that its the real thing. Staring into the mirror, though I don't think I look 30, but I can't help but feel older. (It's like somehow, I am at another phase of my life). I do wish I could turn back the clock but I do know that the more important thing is to age graciously and wisely.

Key things in this decade? To be able to establish myself in my field of work and of course to marry off. :)

Joel arranged the dinner at this place which all of us haven't been before. Food is good. Price is reasonable. Ambience - Great coz it's cosy. If I didn't remember wrongly, its called Hob Nob Cafe Bar.

Bali Getaway - 17022011 to 20022011 (Part 2 of 2)

I'm back with the finale of my Bali trip...I realise the thing about holidays is that we always look forward to it but the days ahead usually seem so long..but when we are at the holiday itself..time seems to just fly past..same goes for my bali trip..in a "blink" of my eye..its's already Day 3! We had a new tour guide for the day who was more experienced and more engaging as well. The best part is that we gave him a new name --> 小色狼 and he loves the name.

Day 3 started off with us heading the the Nusa Dua beach whereby all the watersports takes place. Beware, prices aren't very cheap and its calculated in USD. So remember to bring more cash if you wanna head there and engage in a variety of watersports. I actually played the Jetski while Jingyi and Liyi went snorkerling.

Next up, we headed to this place whereby we can see monkeys. Apparently, the monkeys there are very naughty and if you wear sunglasses they will come and snatch it and crush it. Therefore, for safety sake, even though it was sweltering hot..we didn't wear our sunglasses.

Lunch was next and we headed to somewhere near the surfer's town. Seriously, I can't remember where it is located but the scenary is breath-taking...

After lunch, Liyi and I decided to take a walk around the area to explore further and we found super nice hot spots.

Next destination was Parang Parang Beach. Anyone heard of this beach? This ain't a very popular beach. But for anyone who have watched the show -> eat.pray.love this beach is the one whereby the show was filmed.

Our next destination after Parang Parang beach was another beach as well. Called the Dreamland Beach. A very popular one..But before we got there, we passed by this place and our tour guide told us to get down to take some photos. (It seems like our tour guide loves to take photo of us!)

Till now, I still don't know what statue this is. But anyone know, please do tell me.

Dreamland beach is much more populated than Parang Parang Beach..They provide massage services there as well. Very relaxing..But hor..the suntan chairs there need to rent one.

Our final destination for Day 3 was Dinner at Jimbaran Beach. Seafood Dinner while watching the sunset. So romantic..but not with the right person. Haiz..never mind.

After a long day of exploration, Liyi had craving for some sweet stuff and we went to Cafe Bar which was near our Villa for some desserts.

Day 4 arrived...we slept till quite late because there wasn't much planned on the schedule except for massage. The 3 of us couldn't bear to say byebye to Bali..and wished that we will be back soon. Just before we checked out of our villa, we were camera whoring.

Bali Getaway - 17022011 to 20022011 (Part 1 of 2)

Moved into my new job on the first working day for 2011. I wouldn't simply put it as "moving into a job" but it's more like moving into a new career. Something totally different from what I was doing. Something out of my comfort zone. Been about 2.5 months here. Never took a break during the transitition and finally came February came. I longed for its arrival not only because of Chinese New Year but because I was able to getaway on a trip which I've desired for since August 2010. Thanks to Krisflyer air miles. My air ticket was free! I only needed to pay for the taxes and fuel charges. Due to the changing of my job, I didn't have the luxury of being able to really participate in planning for the trip. All thanks to Jingyi and Liyi who did the research and planning and our trip was so smooth sailing. All I needed to do was to pay. :)

On the 17.02.2011, met Jingyi and Liyi at Singapore Changi Airport T2 and happily...we departed on SQ947 to Bali!! I didn't manage to sit at the aisle because Jingyi took the window seat while Liyi took the aisle seat so that via the online check in the middle seat can be empty..and I was forced to sit the middle.

After a 2.5 hours flight, we finally reached Bali and our 4D3N getaway begins. Took a cab to our villa which was located at Seminyak. Our villa ~Heliconia~ is well located and upon our arrival and entering our villa, we were so wowed by it...

Our drink came in a short while. I had the healthy hot lemon tea while the 2 girls had root beer float.

After dinner we had a long walk to digest our food and also to experience Bali (Kuta) but I guess probably due to the swim and the weather..all 3 of us were very sleepy soon after and headed back to our villa and it was lights out.

Day 2 and 3 was long as we pre-arranged for tours to various tourist attractions in Bali and our day started as early as 7am (we woke up at that time) and our exploration of Bali started at 8am.

The visitation at the temple wasn't very long and we soon proceeded on to our next destination. I kind of like our next destination because it was on high grounds and therefore it was much more cooling as well.

Last stop for Day 2 was the Paddy Fields... Seriously I wished Singapore had all these. Life in Singapore is all tall buildings and people rushing from appointments to appointments, places to places. In Bali, the pace is much slower..

After a long day which consist of travelling and under the hot sun..we headed back to our villa. Hungry and tired and we headed our for our dinner. The good thing about our villa which was located at Seminyak was that there were plenty of food joints that are highly recommended. But the thing is all the joints are severely packed with people. Was deciding between Ultimo and Rumours as both as highly recommended. Finally..we ended up in Rumours!

been a long time

Its been a long time since i blog. Well, bascially its because I have been very very busy at work. Its been about 2 months since I moved into recruitment. Truth to be told, I am still trying to get used to it. Life is more busy. In the past, time passes quite slowly if there isn't much work to be done. But in the recruitment field, it seems like I am chasing after time. I start my day at 830am sharp and end around 7+ at night.

In these 2 months of work, I learnt alot of things. Things in life that I've never tried before. First of all it's cold calling. Truth to be told, who likes cold calling? But I was made to do that. Being an amateur with no portfolio given, not much training. There I was..cold calling different clients asking them to try out recruitment services. Fortunately, I must say God is my provider. I manage to secure a few accounts on my own through the cold calling and eventually things got on track. Clients gave me jobs and there I was trying to fill positions. After securing jobs, it was searching for candidates. I must admit. This isn't as easy as it seems. Good CVs are really hard to come by!!

Over these 2 months, everyday is so different. Meeting different people. Speaking to different people. Even for the same position. We can meet a few candidates and the interview process with them is also so different. I've met candidates that ask for the "sky". while others seems like they don't know what they are applying for..Other things I've learnt in these 2 months..Approaching people. Its something which I dread in the past..I really hated it..going up to people and just talk to them and i mean these people are strangers! But participating in the NTU career fair. Going up to those people and just speaking to them have really boosted my courage by leaps and bounds and somehow I felt that I have overcome my fear of "grabbing" people and just talk to them :)

Adidos - Farewell

It has been more than a month since I left my last job....

The end of 2010 marks my last day with my Company and the last day of the year. Emotions were running high and I felt sad the moment I stepped out of the office bidding farewell to everyone. But yet I knew that I needed to move on to the next stage of my life. Looking back, the job search wasn't an easy one with many discouragements along the way but God is good. He opened doors for me to venture into a brand new area and even assured me that He will be in control.

Over the month of December, after I tendered my resignation on the 2nd December, besides having to help out with our annual budget exercise, daily stuff, I needed to prepare for my handover as well. It was difficult to single out someone to take over my stuff because that person need to be comfortable in dealing with the India market. Besides all the busy work stuff, another thing which I was busy with eating. Eating and making merry. Thanks to all who made my farewell so unforgettable and also all who were part of my life during my time in Ascendas.

Christmas 2010:

Christmas 2010 came in a blink of my eye. Today's already boxing day and its almost ending soon. While approaching Christmas this year, I had mixed feelings in me. As some of you have already known, I am making a career switch come January 2011. 2 years plus ago, I bade farewell to the auditing line and made a switch to be an accountant. However, at that point in time, I didn't really feel much because I was still in the finance line. But come January 2011, I will be making a complete switch which is to become a recruitment consultant (which is sales). As I approach what is ahead, I am filled with anxiety as well as excitement. What is ahead for me? How will it be like? From a boring accountant talking to the balance sheet and income statement and the endless, ever changing accounting standards to talking to real people, doing their profiling and consulting them on their career development.

Another reason for having mixed feelings about this year Christmas is that I will be leaving my current company which I really enjoyed working there. My bosses have all been very nice to me, taught me alot and of course the company's benefits and culture is very good as well. So there is this 依依不舍 feeling lingering in me. Yet I have to make a move because I really want to move out of my current life station and move on to another stage of my life. After being in 1 stage for such a long time, I am feeling stagnant and change is a MUST. So Christmas this year, I spent it quite differently from the previous years..but some traditions still hold the same and here they are:

This year for Christmas, I wanted to 打破传统 and do something different. Afterall, I haven't club for a long time and so this year, I agreed to go CLUBBING! Yeah..i usually dislike crowds and knowing that it will be very crowded during all these special occassions. But I decided to JUST DO IT! So..this 2010 Christmas, with my brother, sis in law and James..we proceeded to Clarke Quay..and ended up at Shanghai Dollies (one of the latest joints)

Ling told me this is the 1st time she clubbed with my brother . They never club together even though they were pak tor-ing..

Can Singaporeans Park?

The obvious answer is NO!!!!! I deemed that my office building carpark has 1 of the most decent parking space. Spacious enough for bigger cars to manoeurve about unlike many other car parks that I've encountered. But look at this below--->

SGW 6552E - I know yours is also a 小红 but your car ain't gigantic ok! And that is a huge lot. It's obvious that this is nothing but BAD PARKING!! It's obvious that the driver is a parking idiot and needs to be send back to the driving school.

On the very same morning of Christmas eve, same place, my office building carpark. I was greeted with 2 parking idiots. Simple head in and what?? I think a "L" plate can park better than this. Do we need to start putting 4 poles and guide you how to park. Maybe you should put up a "P" plate.

The craze is back! Yes - what I call the bubble tea frenzy is back. Anyone around my age/era will remember that sometime back in the early 2000, there was this bubble tea craze all over singapore. I vividly remembered that we had brands such as Quickly (快可立), each-a-cup, Happy cup, Milk Girl and many other small start ups. These bubble tea station just sprang up @ every corner of the neighbourhood but as quickly as they sprang up, the craze eventually faded off just as fast as well. Even though the craze for bubble tea died off, I guess many consumbers still love it deep down in their hearts. Probably back during those times, most people felt it was crazy to pay for more than $2 for a cup of drink.

The good thing is times have changed now. Consumers are willing to $5.60 for a cup of Mocha Ice Blended compared to like 10 years ago, this was considered expensive. My mum will usually tell me this "爸爸喝 $0.60 的咖啡，孩子喝 $6.00 的咖啡." Just about 1 year plus ago, it seems like the bubble tea craze is back and has created a scene. Bubble tea lovers will know of this popular brand - KOI that have created snaking queues at neighbourhoods and now a basic cup of bubble tea cost $2.40 and a premium cup costs like $5.00. Yet people are willing to queue like 1 hour for it. ( i confess i am one of those) Oh well..since KOI is doing so well, it seems like more and more people want a piece of the cake. Bubble tea outlets are springing up again not only at neighbourhoods but also at premium shopping malls which includes Wisma Atria and 1 of it includes this ->

The name speaks for itself. Apparently, they are another brand that has its roots in taiwan. The prices are the same as KOI and I've only tried the Honey Green Tea with Pearl which I'm unable to make any comments coz Honey Green Tea tastes the same almost everywhere. Let's talk about this - Brazilian Waxing

I know some people will be turn off by this post but who cares? This is my blog! Our topic for today is - Brazilian Wax. For those who have no idea what it is all about, let me put it simply as this:

"Removing hair from the pubic region."

For ages, I've thought about the idea of Brazilian wax. However, i don't have a high tolerance level for pain. So, it had always only been a "thought". In recent years, if you readers notice, there's a growth in salons offering waxing services. We have popular salons like Strip , Honeypot and Pink Parlour and the list goes on. For beginners, it's hygenic as less dirt is trap, right?

Another reason is that you won't want to leave your pubic hair on the toilet seat. Its gross right? Imagine someone before you left it there and you see it upon entering the cubicle! Yucks!

Yet another reason for brazilian waxing is this - the clean look. Imagine you're at the beach enjoying the suntan and you see a chio bu. (girls also look at pretty girls as well). Chio bu, face very pretty, tall, figure very good...then-> you see overgrowths! What a turn off.

After all the above reasons, I am not saying that all women should go for brazilian wax this very moment. But women should really consider about it. I know the next question would be " how about the pain level?"

Let me speak from my experience. Earlier I mentioned in the post that I don't deem myself to have a high tolerance level for pain. When i experience pain, I SCREAM. Put it simply, think of the waxing as a sudden slap in the face. It's just about that. Perhaps, i should put it this way-> different areas have different sensitivity level. Some areas will be more painful than the other but its bearable. Trust me. When the wax is yanked out, its just like a sudden shock, but the pain doesn't stays. A session at the salons which I mentioned above takes 15-30 minutes.

What about the wax application? How does it feel? Ok..for brazilian waxing, hot wax is used. How does it feel like? Anyone knows the feeling of doing hand/leg paraffin? Yup, that's the feeling. How is it done? The therapist will dip a wooden waxing stick into a pot of hot wax and then spread it onto your skin and hair. She will then apply a cloth strip over the still-warm wax, pressing firmly so the cloth, hair and wax adhere to one another. When the wax has cooled, she will pull the strip off, in the opposite direction of your hair growth, pulling the hair out by the roots.

After the waxing is done, the therapist will tweeze any stray hairs and spread any soothing lotion over the waxed areas. Yup and that's it..you're done!! Feeling clean and good!

1 word of caution to the women out there. Never never ever try to DIY. Our bodies are just not positioned to do this ourselves. Come on, 1 session of it cost not more than $50 at most salons, unless you are going for the big players and want to shape it like putting some alphabets. For myself , i paid $41 for my virgin experience. I actually browse through forums and read up on recommendations before I decided where I wanted to go and i strongly recommend this lady - E'zen Goh.

Hers is a home based service and she's really attentive. For my virgin session, she took about 1 hour. Getting me prepared and throughout the whole session, she was professional yet very personal and attentive. She really diverted my attention and I must say, the pain level was like 2/10. So definitely, I'll visit her again.

I happened to come across this interesting video today while browsing through asiaone and had a good laugh. Jokes aside, what happened to Singaporeans? Besides speaking our usual Singlish with the leh, loh, la and the list goes on..most of us have difficulty in pronounciation. In this video, words like - Calender, Economy, Liaise, Wednesday, Lingerine, Steak etc, you'll hear people pronouncing it differently and often awkwardly. Now enjoy the video and have a good laugh at it :)

busy week + busy weekend

Seldom do I say I have a busy week and a busy weekend. However, I must confess that this week was nothing but BUSY. I wanted to take a day of leave during the week because I wanted to go for my facial. Its been like 2 months I've not gone for my facial. Though I still regularly do my scrub and mask at home, it still doesn't feel enough. But, my managers didn't give me a confirm answer if I could apply for leave as we were suppose to start our UAT during the week and it didn't happen!! :(

I was out almost every weeknights with the exception of Friday because after being out the whole week, I was totally drained. Stayed out late on Wed and Thurs and therefore, Friday had a bad headache. 1 of my colleague left us this week. (I meant he resigned and his last day was Friday). It's sad because being in the Finance department, there are just so few guys and now another 1 is leaving us. The good thing is that I know he is leaving for greener pastures and of course I wished him all the best! As usual, we treat people for their farewell lunch and this time, we had it at Serenity at Vivo City.

Initially, we had these 3 types of rice and 1 pork knuckle which cost $39.80 (sorry no picture) that was shared between 11 of us. Pathetic right? Most of us only had like 1 scoop (not even 1 mouthful of the rice) and it felt really sad. We were all still like super hungry. :( Thanks to the recommedation of the staff there. Oh yeah..and because all of us were still so HUNGRY we decided to give the restaurant another chance and ordered desserts, hoping that it will be better...

Churros - Home made Spanish Churros with hot Chocolate. Damage - $8.80

Naranjas al vino dulce - Baked Valencia orange with Spanish sweet wine and ice cream. Damage - $9.80

La piña gazpacho - Pineapple with Spanish sweet wine and serve with vanilla ice cream. Damage - $10.80

In addition to the above 3 desserts, we had another 1 which I didn't have to chance to take a picture of it. But bascially, its called the Pastel de Chocolate which is made of A light and moist cashew nut brownie with caramel candied orange & your choice of ice cream. Damage was $8.80.

Taking all the food that we had, anyone can make a guess how much the bill came up to?? ok...the total bill was...

a whopping $292 inclusive of 7% GST and 10% service charge!! Extreme right? After paying such price for the food and all of us left feeling so unsatisfied. I really wouldn't recommend the place to people who wanna eat to their heart's content. Oh well, for those who want to try something different and are willing to spend a little more, the Spanish food is quite authentic.

After a unsatisfying meal, the good thing is that since we were at VivoCity, the group of us were fortunate enough to have bubble tea as well. Yup, no KOI but "Gong cha" is a good replacement.

I guess probably these are the "recommended" flavours. Thanks to Ley San that took all the orders for all of us. She was queuing and I was busy snapping away.

Arrival of Ryan Nathaniel Wee:

Usual habit of mine. After I am awaken by my alarm, I will usually check my phone. Click on email, followed by twitter and then facebook. (that's the bad thing about such technology). As I clicked on facebook, I saw my good friend status update: The REAL deal or another false alarm. I continued to do my own stuff and got ready for work and as I stepped out of the house, I sms-ed her, "So is it real or false alarm?" She replied " real'. Whaaaaa, I felt so excited for her. She's a real good and long time friend of mine from seeing how she pak tor, married and tried for baby till pregnancy and now she's giving birth. I waited for like hours to hear news from her and finally at around 9+, I received an SMS from her "Ryan Nathaniel Wee says hello to all the uncles, aunties, kor kors and jie jies. A chubba bubba weighing 3.81kg @ birth." Yippeee!! my friend has successfully given birth to a healthy baby boy and it was a natural birth. After gym today, I visited her at Thomson Medical and finally got to see the cute little boy.

flowers for the proud mummy. I didn't know what to get for her coz I felt she will have plenty of chicken essence, bird nest, baby clothes. So, flowers to cheer her abit. :)

After the visitation to the hospital, I made a trip down to Singapore Expo for Sitex 2010 and the Mega Flea Market. Seriously, I think sometimes the way I shop for things, I am becoming like a man. I went to both, knowing what I already wanted and targeted on just these 2 things. As I stepped into SITEX, I zoomed in straight for GPS. First saw Garmin, but felt it was expensive. So i looked around, ignoring all the distractions. Finally, I saw 2 other booths selling GPS. The sales person was asking me what specs am I looking at etc and being a woman, I told her this:

" I just want a GPS. 1 that can bring me to places. Easy to use and most important cheap."

BINGO, I found it! My new toy - definitely a useful one. Now, I need not drive around by gut feeling anymore and no longer do I need to plead my brother to lend me his. Yipee!!

一个人是很好，但久了也会寂寞。

Reading asiaone is a daily habit of mine. Interesting articles captures my attention. So..as usual.. this particular article caught my attention -"Accountants have the highest chance of staying single". WHAT?!?! How can that be?? This is so sad, yet so true...:( Looking at my colleagues, I can't deny this plain fact. They spend so much time in office and sacrifice all their personal time just in the name of WORK. Sometime back in August 2010, I was reading from this blogger post that Kotex launched pads with designs. Yes!! Pads with designs and i told my sis in law about it. Muahahahah and today after she did her hair at Jurong Point she saw this and she got it for herself, her sister and me!! I know guys reading this will be disgusted and even "old school" people will wonder this -> why do you need pads with designs when its going to be soiled anyway? But oh well, since you're going to have to wear it on your period monthly, why not just wear a pretty one?? See the packaging below?

Yesterday, I logged on to MSN and for those who uses MSN will know that there is this pop up and shows "Today news". I usually don't pay much attention to it but a title caught my attention yesterday -" Singapore may face brain drain of accountants". Whahahha..are you sure? As I read on the article, I even wondered -" Are you sure accountants are paid so well?" In the article, it mentions this:

"According to Robert Walters 2010 Global Salary Survey, the average basic salary of a senior tax accountant in Singapore with six years of experience is around S$110,000 a year."

Having been in the accounting industry for a good 8 years, let me give breakdown. For someone with 6 years experience, accordingly, if the person is in Big 4, he/she should be a M1 (Manager 1). An M1 Salary is about let's say $6,000 per month.

Monthly: $6,000

Per Annum: $72,000

Bonus: ~3 to 3.5 months (taking the maximum cap of 3.5)

Bonus: $21,000

Total salary per annum: $93,000

Difference: $17,000

The past few months have not been the easiest part of my life. For my closer peers will know that I'm going through a phase of asking myself constantly -> "Do I want to be doing accounting for the rest of my life?" This question has been daunting upon me since Jul this year. I started off applying for Accounting jobs in various industries (with the intention of finding out what's my current market value) . Being a fussy person in the choice of jobs, it made things even more difficult. I was particular about the location and industry. This is what I call being at the "crossroads". I can't remember how many resumes I've sent out, replies I've received and even the number of interviews I've gone for.

To cut the story short, after the numerous interviews for accounting positions, I felt that I wanted to give something else a try but didn't exactly know what it was. Then while surfing JOBSDB one day, I saw this advertisement looking for ex-auditors/accountants looking for career switch. I happily applied and was called up for an interview. While I thought things took a turn, after the interview, the person didn't call me back and I knew it was gone. But I managed to find out more about the industry, what does the person do on a daily basis, what is required of the person and the big players in that industry and started applying for to the big boys. Yes, I got called up for interviews with the big boys and there are some which I went for as many as 5 rounds. Just when things looked rosy, after 5 rounds they told me there wasn't any vacancy at the moment. At that point in time, all these became disheartening.

But I don't know for whatever reason, I went back to look for accounting jobs and at that time, I saw an advertisement for a job in the industry which I liked. Strangely, I also went to apply for a job in the new industry I wanted to join (though it wasn't 1 of the big boys). After a long wait, both jobs offered me a position.

The past 2 weeks have been stressful cause I wasn't sure of which to take. 1 offered stability due to the pay but it was the same old "accounting" job, while another was something which I wanted to try but there are just too many uncertainties. For sure, one thing was the pay factor. I will be taking a BIG pay cut and in fact it worries me. I consulted people around me, spoke to my family and friends in the industry and of course, I prayed about it. Somehow, no matter how hard I pray, it just seems like there wasn't an answer.

One was a stable pay but not something which I really wanted to do, another was something was I really want to give it a shot. I know for sure if I don't try it now, I won't even dare to dream of it in the years to come. But Lord, what about the $$? What if I can't make it in the new industry that I want to try? All these concerns make me so afraid.

Today, while my QT. I decided that I didn't want to even ask God about "which job to choose" since it seems like there won't be an answer and just focus on who God is. Amd you know what happened? While reading the Daily Devotions which I subscribed to by this author - Rick Warren, this thing came upon me:

"As you enter your Decade of Destiny, it is important that you trust God with your finances. If you want God to bless you financially, you must remain focused on the truth that he is the source of your finances and he is the one who supplies your needs.

What does that mean? It means I'm not looking to an employer for my security. I'm not looking to my savings for security. I'm not looking to anyone or anything other than God to supply my needs."

I like the illustration that he gave " When I turn on the water, I don't really think the water comes from the faucet. I know that the water really comes from a reservoir. It just comes to me through the faucet. In the same way, the income that God wants to give me may come through a job or through something else.

But the source is God.

I'm back!! From my last trip of the year

I'm back from Bangkok, which sums up my last trip for the year *boo*. My colleague mentioned that its very 幸福 to be away for 3 trips just for a year. But then my trips are all short trips!! I love Bangkok and this time round, the trip is purely a shopping trip..but too bad I didn't change enough $$. I thought the amount I changed will be sufficient but to my horror, I actually spent 2,000 Baht helping other people buy their stuff. *sobsob* leaving very little for myself...The weather was bad this time round that I went, forcing ling and myself to make lots of changes to our plans. We didn't manage to pay a visit to Chatuchak and Suan Lum cause it was raining every day and thus...it left us spending all our time @ Platinum for 2 days and MBK for 1 day. My legs almost broke ok? Platinum is so huge that we only manage to cover 2 floors every day..so I was telling ling-> Besides exercising our feet, we are exercising our eyes as well coz have to spot for clothes that we liked. As usual, I went to a few of my favourite shops which i singled out the last time I went and SPOT ON!! I bought from the shops again!!!

So here I will..show some of my 胜利品..woohoo!

Ling & I decided to stay @ Grand Diamond this time round and I was happy with the hotel. I liked the rooms because it was smaller, carperted and it gave the cosy feeling. The best thing is that it's just next to Platinum (2 mins walk)

The standing shower which I liked which added to the plus points of the hotel. I hate bath tubs! so standing shower does best!

After a mere 4 hours of sleep the night before and a 2 hour flight + some wash up in our hotel room and breakfast, our adventure begins! Its time to conquer Platinum. However, it was Platinum that conquered us. For the 2 days of shopping and we walked from like 11am - 7pm everyday and only managed to cover 4 storeys. I wouldn't say I had a fruitful trip this time round coz' I felt I didn't buy enough. :( But I must admit I am satisfied with the loot that I brought back *hee*

After 6-7 hours of constant walking, Ling & I were dead tired and our feet felt like it was able to give way. Can you imagine 6-7 hours and you only manage to cover 2 storeys? We wanted to have a good meal @ Chinatown but sad to say due to the horrendous weather, the traffic at Bangkok got even worst. We actually manage to get onto a cab after more than 20 mins of waiting but the cab driver decided not to take us there. Eventually, we proceeded to the Japanese Restaurant located on the 6th floor of Platinum to cure our hungry stomachs.

I was too hungry to take too many pictures. But the meal cost us about 700+ Baht which we didn't felt it was expensive considering that we had alot.

Ling & I were super worn out after the lack of sleep, travelling and our hunting for clothes that after dinner, we proceeded for some foot massage @ 300 Baht (60 mins) and subsequently back to our hotel for our beauty sleep. We didn't even bother to set the alarm and both of us agreed that we will just wake up when our bodies tell us to. So we slept till about 11am the next day. As our accomodation was not inclusive of breakfast, we headed out on our own.

We actually had waffle for breakfast but i didn't manage to capture a picture of it. How I wish this can be brought back to Singapore

Ling & I went separate ways for 1 hour because she wanted to find a top for her sister which she missed it the day before and after I was done with my stuff we agreed to meet @ my favourite shop. Don't be mistaken its not the bra shop which I am referring to. It's the shop called Pand g. Its located on the 3rd floor near to 1 of the escalators.

I bought only 4 belts and ling commented -> your belts all so BLING! well of course, its me mah! I love BLING BLING stuff

Nice pinkie dress which costs 160 Baht. Its purchased from 1 of shops which I've kept a lookout since my last trip there. Not only are the dresses cheap, designs nice and the shop owner is very nice. The shop is called fifty's sixty Vintage Luxuary Chic Wear Style. Loation: 1069, Fl 4, Canden 8. Platinum Fashion Mall

This top is transcluent. The trend in bangkok now is Chiffon type of clothing and this cost me only 190 baht bought from 1 of the shops i singled out as well from my previous trip.

After a good 7 hours of shopping on Day 2, Ling and I were finally famished. We wanted to give it a shot and see if were can proceed to Chinatown again but I must say we were CHEATED!! We hop onto a cab just outside our hotel and when we got in, the driver seem so nice. He could speak fluent english and we so weren't wary of him. We told him we wanted to head to Chinatown for some Shark's fins and guess what?? He told us, "Oh now is the 斋 festival and it also coincides with the Buddha's birthday. So there will not be any killing of animals so there will not be Shark's fins served in Chinatown. Why not I bring you to another seafood place? The food is "CHEAP" and its nicer than Jumbo and Long Beach."

My foot!! What Crap! The food wasn't as cheap at all and I highly suspected that the restaurant gives him commission for bringing customers there. Let me give you all a breakdown of how much our meal cost-->

That's not it, Ling had a coconut which cost 100 Baht and I had a sweetened, diabetic causing watermelon juice which cost me another 100 Baht. Damage done which included towels, GST & service charge was 2,040 Baht which translates SGD 90.27!!! That's not cheap at all!!!

After being treated like a "carrot" the night before, Ling and I had a simple and satisfying breakfast just before proceeding to MBK for our final day of shopping/relaxation. We had our Wanton Mee & some stewed pork things. Damn! I must admit the Wanton Mee is delicious and more importantly its cheap. Its quite well known that many foreigners know of it as well.

After our meal, we headed straight for foot massage for 3 consecutive days and retired early for the night zzz. Didn't do much shopping on our final day cause our flight was at 1.20pm (Bangkok time). We woke up early to pack our stuff, have our breakfast and pay Platinum a last visit. But sadly, I didn't manage to grab any thing while Ling manage to grab 2 chockers for herself.

After checking in, I told Ling that I am looking for this "Black Canyon Coffee" which I believed its very popular in Bangkok. I think its their "Starbucks" kind of coffee chain. I didn't want to have coffee so order the ice chocolate instead and with this drink, I depleted all my Thai Baht. Yes, stripped to nothing but I must admit the drink is nice and while blogging this, I realised Singapore has it as well! *yipee*

While waiting to board the flight. Flight delayed :( and I still seem so happy right? Thank God, I have my iphone to entertain me and of coz, block out all other noises from some of the irritating passengers waiting there as well.

A funny article - "Singaporean Men Cannot Make It One Lah"

Singaporean girls like to use the phrase "cannot make it" to describe Singaporean men. They wrinkle their noses and act all surprised when you suggest, ever so gently, that perhaps Singaporean Male X might be a suitable mate. "Huh?? Cannot make it lah, he." A few years later they marry Singaporean Male Y, who looks and sounds exactly the same as Singaporean Male X.

Why are Singaporean men all so ostensibly "cannot make it"? I do not know the answer to this question, for I am reasonable. However, I do have suggestions for the men. To become a "can make it" Singaporean male (without having to resort to plastic surgery), one must achieve a certain level of competence at the activities I shall be listing out below. Ours is a small, closed society; the traits that mark one out for worthwhile reproduction are easily and quickly discernible, if one pays proper attention.

1. Must be good at computers and computer games

Strangely, being good at computer games appears to be more impressive to the average Singaporean female. If you are good at computers only, you are taken advantage of for most part. If you are good at computer games, however, you are a badass potential protector. Compare:

You: OK, upgraded to Windows 7 already.
Girl: Thanks so much! (thinks: the software did everything.)
You: You're welcome.
Girl: Can help me install antivirus?

There is nothing else to do in Singapore. Get good at it, you will be spending a lot of time in these places. Don't just chalk your stick - chalk some victories while you're at it. Ah-lians will be watching.

3. Must be good at one team sport

So that you will look good next to the other doddering dodos. Football obviously occupies top spot, but basketball and water polo work too. Volleyball is for girls.

Girls find it easier to come down to support team sports, because they can rationalize their conduct diffusely: "I'm here for the TEAM." Let them have this. You know what they're thinking when you're ... scoring.

4. Must be good at one individual sport

While girls find it harder to support these because you are alone and therefore very bo sei for them to come all the way down, the simple fact that you are involved in some sport somewhere is already very "can make it". Walk around with your lacrosse bag slung over your shoulder or your tennis shoes carelessly dangling from your backpack. When they ask about your sport, just make vague references and knowingly use terms of art.

Girl: Where are you going?
You: Oh, practice.
Girl: What practice?
You: Kallang ... today we're doing slice serves.

Few other people will be able to challenge your authority, since these are individual, recherche pursuits. Exploit the opportunity.

5. Must be musical

GUITAR for individual, DRUMS in a band. Girls are quite dumb one and they like to see action jackson. You bang bang the drum, they happy. You stand around and pluck a few strings, nobody knows what you're doing. Of course, if you are going to do the serenading thing, it will be guitar without question.

Tip: When serenading, pretend to be practising (when you actually practice sui sui at home already). Always choose a current song, so people will bite. 7. Must have good sense of direction

A guy who has no sense of direction is a girl. The end.

8. Must drive and be a good driver

DRIVE. And for fuck's sake, practice that parallel parking thing. Girls always tell themselves that they are not lousier drivers, just more careful/cautious/whatever. But despite that ALL OF THEM STILL CANNOT FREAKING PARALLEL PARK. Become tok kong at this, heighten the gender difference, enhance the sexual tension. Ooh yeah baby.

By the way, European marques please. The Singaporean lady does not want to be seen rolling in a Hyundai.

9. Must be laconic and listen to her drivel

Ya. It helps. Srsly.

Singaporean girls think they are really interesting, and maybe they are. Who knows? We aren't really listening. But you don't really have to - just nod every 10 seconds. And then say, "Really ah." I just did this today. It is fricking awesome. You can abidicate responsbility for having a brain.

The bottom line is that by keeping silent, you allow her to project her preferred self-image onto you. She is interesting, so therefore you must be interesting, since you are absorbing her everything. How cool is that? I love lady logic.

10. Must know DIY

"I hammered her and her friend last night, we had a good screw. Talk about nailing two in one night! Of course I bolted the next day, but I will always be ready when their pipes need further unclogging."

Euphemisms aside, you must know DIY because other penises will try to undermine you with their own DIY knowledge. Especially contractors who overcharge. If you are fleeced in any DIY-related matter, you are not a man.

This is also perhaps the origin of the phrase "cannot make it" - a man who "can make it" can make ... things. With hands and tools. He probabaly also knows how to instruct the girl on how to rectify a swollen ball-cock.

11. Must speak dialect

My biggest regret, I cannot speak dialect. In lup-sup KTVs and Warrant Officer messes, I am the lowest of the low. With contractors, I am a freaking pony with "Kan Me" on my forehead. Why is dialect so important for the Singaporean male? Primarily, it establishes street cred. Denizens from below must look up to you before any female will find you worth apprising. Importantly, also, dialect is crass; crassness establishes contrast, and in contrast we find admiration.

12. Must not be below PES B

Or at least finish normal BMT like everyone else. Nobody really knows whether OCS or SISPEC is tougher, so you can elide that easily.

If you had a buay gan army life, try not to talk about it at all. Girls know one. They all have "a friend" who was a commando-officer-parakeet. They will compare you like they compare their Prada bag with the other girl's Miu Miu. Don't become an object!

If you were a star in the army, also don't talk too much about it. Girls just want to know that you were good, and that you were not a jellyfish. The rest is still for you to prove - funny, rich, smart etc. Prove it.

13. Must have "ambition" and "passion"

Most Singaporean girls have a vague notion that their man should be "successful" or aim for success of some sort. For themselves, they have less concrete ambitions. Use this to your advantage. However, only hint (not talk) about your plans. For instance:

Girl: So, what's next for you?
You: I've had several offers ... well, we'll just see where it goes. I have a pretty clear idea of what I want though.
Girl: What's that?
You: Haha, it will bore you. Let's not talk about me. Do you like baby blue or pink?

Once they know you have "plans", they will stick with you, regardless of what those "plans" are. Make sure you always have "an idea" of what you are going to do. When in doubt, obfuscate and pass off a successful person's life as your own.

14. Must say nearly every other girl is "cannot make it"

This is by far the MOST IMPORTANT ITEM on the list. Singaporean girls like a guy who has "standards". Secretly, the standard for every girl is HERSELF. This is not a cardinal scale, there is no relativity. Instead, on this mystery scale there is THE GIRL IN QUESTION, and then EVERY OTHER FEMALE ON EARTH. She will make cursory concessions for Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox (the latter usually grudgingly), of course, but DO NOT BE FOOLED. She just wants you to think that SHE is the prettiest and THAT IS IT!!!

If, however, you are unable to lie barefacedly, you might want to go with a less extreme approach. You must say that girls SHE LIKES AS PEOPLE are pretty. NEVER SAY THAT PRETTY GIRLS ARE PRETTY! Girls are unable to divorce looks from personality. It would be unwise to do so, therefore, in their presence. A good sample discussion would run as follows:

Girl: Do you think Girl X (ugly but liked) is pretty?
You: Yes, she has a certain je ne sais quoi that I find charming.
Girl: (pleased) Really ah? I think so too! Not like that Girl Y (pretty but disliked).
You: Oh, Girl Y. Cannot make it lah. Act cute buay cute.
Girl: (ready to give you blowjob liao) I ALSO SAY!

Sunday is drawing to an end and here comes the most dreadful day of the week - Monday *boo*. Not that I don't thank God for every day but like most working adults, I am a sufferer of the Mondy Blue syndrome and to think of it..most of my clothes that I wear on Monday are blue as well.

As I thought about the week that is about to pass. The most talked about topic for the week have been - "The late Mdm Kwa Geok Choo" also known as "Mrs Lee Kuan Yew". Everyday, as I flipped through the papers from Monday-Thursday, there are at least 4-5 pages focusing on her. The love between herself and MM Lee, the love for her children and how supportive she was as a wife to MM Lee. She really is the 进得了厨房，出得了厅堂 kind of women. Seriously, in these days, how many women can actually be like her? As i read all the eulogies, some thoughts stuck me:

1) Approximately 2 years back, I was having a conversation with this guy friend of mine and I asked him "David, for a guy like you, so eligible, what kind of girl do you want as your wife?" The reply he gave me was this "As a man, I have to work hard outside to bring the bread home to support the family. The last thing I want this a wife that is over reliant on me and also I want someone who can cook. You know how it feels that everytime if you have to work late and get home being so tired and yet still have to think of what to eat and not have a satisfying meal?" I guess from his reply i concluded that -> yes, guys still go for looks (i mean must 看的顺眼) but at the end of the day, thats not what matters most. Unless the guy is super shallow. But my advice is - if girls ever meet a guy who's super shallow, DROP HIM LIKE A HOT POTATO!!!

2) Another thing that struck me was this question, when I pass on, what sort of legacy do I want to leave behind? Legacy does not equivalate to riches. But what will people whom I have cross paths with say when I pass on? Or what do I want them to say?

3) Lastly, another thing that struck me was "remember the image whereby MM Lee brought his hands to his lips and planted a kiss onto the forehead of his wife's body lying in the casket - not once, but twice". As we all know, his persona and achievements are larger than life and it was easy for anyone of us to see him as Mr Lee Kuan Yew -the icon, our Minister Mentor as well as the architect of Modern Singapore. But this week, with that image, I once again saw him as a person, just like anyone of us. A human being made of flesh and wired up with emotions.

On the lighter side of this post, I am counting down to Bangkok in 4 days times..woohoo!! Someone was asking me whether it was a holiday and I replied " I am going to boost BKK's GDP!"..hiaks hiaks. But I think the best part of the week is this -> besides this upcoming trip , I'm also going off to Bali next Feb for 3 other gfs and the even better part is -> my air ticket is FREE!

Oh well..4 more days to BKK but just yesterday on the way for my gym, I passed by Charles & Keith and decided to give them a chance and put my foot into the shop. (for those who know, I hardly ever buy Charles & Keith shoes)...As a result of this "wanting to give a chance", this was the resulting damage-->

a new pair of shoes! It was love at first sight! The front part is not the pointed type, its made of BLING BLING and the heel ain't very high as well!

While preparing for work, I was tuning to Yes 93.3 - 就是万人迷 and the DJ, Cruz Teng mentioned that over the past 2 months, Singapore was very busy as she hosted 2 important sporting events - The inaugural Youth Olympics and the Singtel Grand Prix. Both events were very successful and the organisers received much affirmation from the public. Being a Singaporean, of course I am proud of my own country. In fact, I was suppose to be a volunteer for the Singapore Youth Olympics but due to work commitments, so I wasn't able to take leave. As for the Singtel Grand Prix, I always wanted to be a volunteer but too bad, I reckon they prefer guys. (perhaps the organisers know that if females are involve, we will be busy taking photos instead of marshalling. :p)

Besides my home country being so eventful for the past few months, my life have also been quite eventful at least for the past few weeks. 1 significant change in my life is - I've not been shopping much for the past few months. Occassionally, I still do buy clothes, but mostly from online. The conclusion is that for 1 dress that I purchase from the physical shops, I can get 2 dresses online. Afterall, the price difference is to pay for the rental of the shop. (I suppose). So..where do I do my online shopping? Besides ranting about my online shopping deals, I've also been meeting up with people. Remember the flea market that I participated a few months back with some friends? Last Monday, we met up for dinner. We were suppose to meet at Big O at Paragon but fortunately, we ended up at Ding Tai Fung. Phew..not that I have anything against Big O but eating there will ruin all my gym-ing efforts..I was so glad to meet up with Kelly and Anna. (the other 2 girls besides Ruth who joined in the flea market) At the very least, now Ruth and myself know more about what Anna likes to do..and can you imagine, the thing she likes to do the most is what I hate the most..but well the good thing is -> ruth is the middle man (cause she don't hates the activity but neither is she a fan of it.)

After a late night out on Monday, which I usualy avoid due to Monday Blues. Tuesday was quieter as it was a "head straight home" day for me. Wed was my date with MF and come Thursday, I drove all the way to Parkway Parade for Hip Hop classes and finally came Friday where I met someone whom I have not met 1-1 for like 2 months? (It seems long because in the past I have to meet her everyweek). We met at Vivo and damn..I wonder why everyone likes to crowd at Vivo on a Friday night cause all the dining places have snaking queues! Sat came by in a flash and because it was the F1 weekend, the smartest choice was to avoid the Suntec Area. Together with some of the CG people, we headed to Singapore Art Museum for Digital Nights. Personally, I was quite disappointed by it as I was expecting more from it. However, on the brighter side, after 29 years living in this small island, I finally visited a museum.

All in all, we only spent about 1.5 hours there and most of the time, we were looking at other stuff such as paintings rather than what we intended to see. I think the best part was that there was a mini flea market happening outside the museum and it seems like many people were spending more time outside than inside the museum..No complains though, coz at least for now I get to say, I finally visited the Singapore Art Museum!

Sunday came and gone in a flash. After a late night out on Sat, because I went to watch Wall Street (Money never sleeps) after the visitation to the museum, I woke up early on a Sunday morning as I wanted to visit the Hope Kids Service. My 2nd time going there to volunteer and oh man..it's enjoyable. After a late night out + waking up super early..the last agenda of the day was heading to Aloha Loyang for my secondary school friend's son 1 year old birthday party. 不认老都不行..even her older son is 3 years old and he's huge!

Marilyn said the cake was a disaster but I find it looks kind of cute. Make a guess how much this cake cost?

长周末到今天，又追完了一套台湾偶像剧。。总共21集。7 天就看完。。品均是一天三集。。不错。但不是 record breaking lah.

First got to know of this show sometime in February after watching 下一站，幸福. This show was premiered in Taiwan after 下一站，幸福 and it ended sometime in July. Oh well..when I first know of this show, it didn't really catch my attention simply because the actors weren't my favorites. But on a closer look, 1 of the actor is 温升豪 so I decided to give it a try. I mean the show is nice, the usual taiwan love story. But I was hoping that there is a twist to the ending.. Why must it always be a fairy tale ending? Why can't the male lead be heart broken that the girl he likes ends up with someone else..hahah..yes this is the twist I hope to see in taiwan shows. Oh yeah..after finishing this show..it makes me feel like going to Taiwan again...

Group Finance - Team Building 2010 - USS 9 Sep

Finally..after rounds of voting, months of discussion, endless changing of dates, 66 of us from Group Finance and also the ERM team went to USS on the 9 Sep 2010 on a lovely Thursday morning :). Most of us were hoping that the weather will be kind to us but it turned out to be a super sunny day and also because it was the school holidays so the place was PACKED!! For some rides, it took about 75 mins so some of us didn't want to wait. :(. But oh well..who cares about the weather not being very kind to us..we still had fun and of coz knowing the people in the team whom we don't work with often.

We weren't allowed to bring our bags in. But thanks to Cara she brought her hp in and while queuing for our turn to take the ride. We suggested to cam whore inside.

Soon after Winnie and I decided to break from our team coz we wanted to "chase" after the mascots. So the 2 of us decided to stay near the walk way and "ambush" the mascots and I found Woody Woodpecker making its presence. So faster grabbed Winnie while she was shopping half way and we chase after Woody.

We were 1 of the 1st in queue for a picture with Woody. I always wondered how can a mascot endure the weather on our Sunny island but RWS really takes care of them and put them at places which don't have much sunlight.

Its been a long time since I lay my hands on a book and read. Oh well, while I was at Evelyn's place last Sunday, just before I was about to leave, she asked me "do you want to read? I've quite alot of books here." Oh yes, why not? I thought and i went to her drawer and looked through the books and 1 book struck me, which is this->

As the book suggests, yes, this book talks abouts Sexuality. (For those who know me a little more will know why I picked this book). The book talks about what millions of christian singles & teenagers wants to know. - Hoping for practical and biblical answers to why they should abstain before marriage and specific advice on a host of issues like "Why did God make me this way?", "Why does God leave our sex switches on before marriage?", "How far is too far?" and "What about living together before marriage?".
