this topic would catch many people..many would think when did this princess become so spiritual wor....i know many times i seem super super unspiritual because from my look i know i got the ah lian and bo chup look. but beneath that look...u all duno..i think alot...i reflect alot..today my 1st lesson for my believer's music started..i've embarked on "Advance Worship Dynamics I" this sem. The topic for this whole semester is--> "As Flaming Fire". Key verse is:
Psalm 104: 4
"He makes the winds His messengers, flaming fire His ministers.
This semester, the whole module besides learning new variations will be looking @ different prophets mentioned in the bible..today the instructor pop this question..."when you see the word prophet what does it mean to you??"
Me:" People who speak God's word and edifies the people of God with the word."
No right or wrong..but i like the answer she mentioned..Prophets are ordinary people...with an extraordinary passion. They possess the heart that burns for God. As i progressed through this semester..i also ask that God will give me a heart that burns for Him..
AS FLAMING FIRE
What comes to mind when a prophet is mentioned? Some might think of prophets as miracle workers (signs and wonders), a soothsayer (supernatural insight into the future) or mere oracle (one who acts as a medium between the divine and mortals). The biblical prophets were anything but celebrity appeal we see in today's modern Christianity. We live in an age where popularity contests and exuding pop-idol personas have crept it's way into the church when the demeanor of the biblical prophets were of the complete opposite- the prophet John's response to fame was that "He must increase, and I must decrease".
While there are many outward manifestations of any prophetic ministry, we chose to focus on forthtelling courgage to proclaim God's Word) rather than foretelling (prophecy about the future) for the AWD modules. Our goal is that you will catch that fire which burned within the prophets of old. That same fire continues to burn today within those whose hearts are aligned towards Yahweh (2 Cor 16:9)
A true prophet of Yahweh possesses the zeal and agenda of Yahweh. It is one who despises undue glory to oneself and absolves all of their private aspirations alongside fasting and prayer.
As carriers of God's presence (2 Cor 6:16), the biblical prophets are our role models. Through the lessons, you will discover that they were not perfect beings, but simply the ones who chose to carry Yahweh's burden for His people. You will also find that it is through humility and brokeness and their ever-increasing obsession with the heart of God that they became a powerful voice for the masses of that day. Their lives are exemplary for each and everyone of us regardless of spiritual or theological background.
