WC & Baby "fever"
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 |11:31 AM

Amazingly another busy weekend just flew past. The week was packed with soccer. Thankfully its not work! Been quite a while since I went for drinks with friends but thankfully due to World Cup 2010, a few of us managed to gather at Clarke Quay for the match which everyone was looking forward to just last friday - Brazil vs Portugal. Our initial choice was Brewerkz but its was PACKED. Kelly, Vincent and Liyi arrived and told me its was full and the waiting list if horrendously long and so...we ended up at Beer Market which is also at Clarke Quay. I heard from Liyi that Vincent frequents Beer Market with his friends and thus it was easy for us to grab hold of seats. The good thing about the place is that it has a super huge projection screen and the food is good or is it more like coz' Liyi and I were both hungry. (we had our dinner at 10+).

Beer market unique menu which resembles newspapers

super big portion of fish and chips from Beer market.

Black pepper chicken chop. (Liyi says she likes the potato that comes along with this while i preferred the fries that came along with her fish and chips)

Friday night ended super late and guess what..by the time I got home was about 3am. AND..who says as one grows older, lesser sleep is required? On Sat, i slept till about noon. (:p for those who knows me, will know i need @ least 7-8 hours of sleep daily). Sat was a quiet one with not much happenings except for a baby shower. You know at this age, after all your friends get married for 1-2 years, they all start their "factory". Here goes..Introducing Baby Adele-->

this is the 2nd time I see her since she's out and..she's forever sleeping.

Met baby Adele again on Monday due to a dinner treat by my manager. Yah..she's still sleeping. Apparently, Baby Adele lost weight.

Mummy had to eat..so Auntie Meiming is taking care of Baby Adele..and for once.she opened her eyes and peep at us!

the last time I am going to be a jie-mei
Sunday, June 27, 2010 |8:28 PM

Ha. This post is long overdue and I really mean long. Though its dated 27 June 2010, but the actual date of publishing its actually 19 Jul 2010 and Gavin and Charlene wedding was almost 1 month ago. Procrastinating. Yes thats the word to use. In fact, I've already uploaded the pictures which was the most tedious part. I really hate uploading pictures on blogger because I always have to realign them. Super inconvenient. But then...if a blog does not have any pictures..its super boring. I can't imagine one with lots of words. I'll definitely zzz soon.

Ok..21 June 2010. My..er.. 5th time as a "jie mei"? In fact, I lost count. But Charlene is a good friend of mine and how can I reject her invite to be her "jie mei"? So I gladly took it up even though there was a need to apply for a day of leave. But for a good friend, its worth it! Of course..it goes without saying. Being a very experienced "jie meis" and in fact, the 4 of us are very experience..the brothers didn't get away easy. Can you imagine on a Monday morning to be faced with difficult tasks?? *hiaks hiaks*. The sisters really put our brains together and came up with "fun" stuff and the pictures tells it all!

Angelia bought herbs and we boiled it and threw into this bucket. Evelyn gladly tied the key to the main gate onto 1 of the herbs and we threw the key into the bucket.

Herbs with bread crumbs and red dates. :p

Crackers with Tabasco and Wasabi with Tomato as the filling

Here we have it. Honey, Bitter drink, Beer and Biscuit + free size mens underwear awaiting for the arrival of Mr Gavin Lim.

Charlene looking radiant on a Monday morning - which is the most important day in her life!

We were at Gavin's place and the couple was doing the traditional tea ceremony. So being very bored coz we were purely on lookers, the 4 of us was hiding behind in the kitchen and started whipping out the camera and snapping away.

The couple going back to Charlene's home for the tea ceremony to her parents. 回娘家!

While the couple was doing the traditional tea ceremony at Charlene's house, once again..1 shot with Sammi! Her turn is coming in Oct 2010!

and of coz 1 with Evelyn Lim.. a 大姐姐 she is to me. :)

After the couple tea ceremony and the lunch. The "sisters" took a photo with the lovely couple.

Just 1 with our lovely bride. I really miss the colleagues and friends from audit

They rented this car and I love it. Yes its a Mercedes SLK. I wish it was mine. But I kind of prefer a CLK instead. But can I have a manual one?

hot car with a ah hem..not so hot babe.

After her ROM and she's officially Mrs Gavin Lim/Mdm Charlene Tan.

Evelyn linm missing coz she had an appointment.

After their ROM, they treated us to dinner @ Ashtons. Something amazed me..when we asked the waiter if the pork chop was medium rare or cooked. He said he will check for us. But I am wondering "Pork chop? Medium cooked? Isn't that scary?" But well thanks to them for the wonderful dinner!

The couple didn't have their dinner on the same day. But due to work, I wasn't able to apply for yet another day of leave on Tuesday. But I was off duty that day and we had this very "onz" Gavin friend who so willingly helped them for the dinner and off load our duties :). I got off work on the dot and arrived early at the venue and was helping Charlene out in her room.

After wearing her gown, we took a snap shot. pretty pretty.

Their wedding album. I love this page the most coz Charlene looks cute in it.

At the reception. Sammi and Myself

the girls are all the ex-BDO gang which we also affectionately know ourselves as BDO alumni while our man in blue is Mr Peter Leong.

My run during our time at BDO!

Pey Chyun and myself! Yay!

Providing Services for XBRL Filing
Thursday, June 24, 2010 |4:40 PM

The Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) implemented a new filing requirement for Singapore incorporated companies to file their financial statements (FS) in XBRL (or eXtensible Business Reporting Language) format with effect from 1 November 2007. XBRL is an open standard used in computers to present financial statements such that they can be retrieved from online records and transferred directly to users such as auditors, regulators, financial analysts for various purposes.

ACRA believes that the use of XBRL will provide more value-added financial information and enhance the regulatory environment with improved transparency and timely dissemination of relevant financial information. Before 1 November 2007, all financial statements were filed in PDF format.

What are your options?

Accountants of companies that are required to file financial statements now need to prepare the statements in XBRL so that the company’s corporate secretary can in turn file the statements in XBRL format with ACRA.

Directors of the companies are responsible of ensuring the correctness and accuracy of financial statements in XBRL format filed with ACRA. They are advised to check the information to be filed before authorizing any parties to submit the information on behalf of the company to ACRA.

Companies can choose to get their staff to prepare the financial statements in XBRL format using ACRA’s FS Manager tool. Alternatively, you can engage external service to assist in the preparation.

The advantage

Preparation of financial statements in XBRL requires some accounting knowledge and it is time-consuming. A company’s director will most often dedicate this task to a junior accounts personnel. The dilemma, however, is whether directors should spend extra time to check that: (1) the statements prepared in XBRL format and; (2) the XBRL filing, are both done correctly.

As such, outsourcing the preparation and filing will give directors the peace of mind in meeting the company’s compliance needs. This enable directors and business owners to focus on business-critical operations and core activities without having to worry about the processes behind this requirement.

What is needed?
Send me a copy of your audited financial statements so that I can turnaround within 5 working days.

Taiwan revisited (8 June 2010- 12 June 2010) + 3rd CSR in Ascendas
Wednesday, June 23, 2010 |10:58 PM

Back from Taipei for approximately 2 weeks but yet to recover and I mean recovering from the tiredness. Don't know why also. Maybe as one ages, it takes longer to regain the energy. (The weird thing is -> I get my 7 hours of sleep and I ain't very busy at work.) hmzzz..till today I'm liken to a car that's moving in the 1st/2nd gear. Just glad that I ain't moving in the reverse gear :p. Just some updates of the happenings in Taipei and what I have been up to at work and some pictures to share (as usual)...

I didn't take many pictures with my cam this time round because in the group that went together, we had a "professional photographer" and my cam pales in comparison to his attas DSLR. But when no ones looking..i took all these--> Thanks to the early arrival but late check in, the 7 of us were upgraded to business class. Its amazing because despite travelling upteem times for work, I never gotten a chance to land my butt on business class. I told my brother -> Business class is addictive!

They address you by your surname and look->everything is nicely laid out with porcelain glassware. This is just the appetizer.

This is the dessert. Blueberry cheesecake. 1 of my favourite flavour minus the Kiwi!

We arrived in Taipei and I was wondering how come the airport looks so different from the one I've been to the other round and I realised-> there are 2 terminals in the Taoyuan Airport. But who cares, as long as the immigration is fast.

The MRT line which we needed to pass through everyday.

When no one is looking, I will take a quick snap shot of myself. After a whole day of travelling and I don't look too messy. Its an achievement. whahhaaa

Taken @ Danshui. I can't remember who bought quite a few sausages and gave Shireen one. Can you see the hunger and smiles on her face?

Orange juice with green tea. Well..green tea goes with anything, I suppose.

1 of our favourite. In fact, this is our 2nd helping. Mr YJ bought the first round and shared with all of us. Then when we went separate ways, Shireen and I went back to get it as well.

Nice packaging. Pls..they aren't sanitary pads. Just teasers. Chocolates and marshmallows.

Professional lady frying the Oyster egg. But she's super unfriendly coz she didn't allow us to sit @ her stall despite us ordering her food.

The taiwan version has vegetables in it as well. *yummylicious*

While we were waiting to cross the road and happen to see this. This approach of using this guy as the safety man is much safer than what we have in Singapore.

Finally managed to visit Mr J's restaurant this time round after hearing so much of it. Nice orange sofa. But guess where it is placed?

As usual. A snap shot @ Mr J restaurant

周董 with I don't know who are the rest in this picture. But he does look handsome.

I was trying so hard to snap a picture with this but couldnt do it. Thanks to WL and he helped me!

the decorations inside the restaurant
cute but vulgar though

these are found at the cashier's table.

More memorabilia of Jay Chow.

everything is about Jay!

Intruder spotted! For those who have been there, have you ever wondered what's a Betty Boop doing in Mr J restaurant?

Paintings and much more.

I lurve looking at restaurants wine bar.

my order if i didn't remember wrong its Seafood cream pasta rice.

Special order by Jinghe and Robert. Limited to 10 sets per day.

Usual me. I can't finish my portion again.

We were "stuck" in the restaurant for more than 2 hours. Thanks to the unfriendly rain that came. But I promised the next time round I visit Taipei, I will go to the other one which was a spin off from his movie 不能说的秘密。

Tickets to Keelung and 九份。 which we managed to go on the 2nd last day. The ride to 九份 as usual was very hard on me. But fortunately this time, i brought my motion sickness pills.

the "keelung" hollywood sign spotted.

having our lunchie @ 九份. From what I know, the Fuzhou Fishballs are known to be famous. But which stall? *beats me*

The train station while we were waiting to go back Taipei. Does it remind you of the Tanjong Pagar one?

Finally, on the last day, Shireen and I had our free time and i happily requested for her to join me at the "Hello Kitty Sweets Restaurant". We took cab there which was kind of easy to find. But the bad thing of it is that, the restaurant is so popular that we weren't able to secure any seats. Ended up with a takeaway (better than nothing) and some quick snaps of the place.

Its so outstanding that it's hard to miss.

*bling bling* and its pink. Lagi attention grabbing

the counter. everything is just filled with Hello Kitty.

cakes and more cakes.

can i have 1 for my birthday next year when i hit my big 3?

I seriously think Singapore should have such a shop as well. Confirm will make $$.

Just before we left, this is what the shop is from the outside. *cute*

The 7 of us headed for the airport and to my disappointment, we were allocated economy class. But thankfully, I was seated by the aisle. *phew* remember I mentioned earlier that I bought a take away from the Hello Kitty shop? Here it is-->
The packaging and my meal on board the flight.

Tiramisu cake. yummy. but with a cracked kitty face.

Economy food compared Business. What a vast difference. Well the prices you are paying for says so.

Before taking a nap, the sunset. Bye Taipei.

Upon being back in office after the holiday, our department had our CSR. This time no longer with Lions Befrienders but with 2 homes -> Melrose Home and Henderson Student Care Centre. This is my 3rd CSR since I joined Ascendas and I really enjoyed this one. Though it was much more tiring because we brought a bunch of kids out and they were like hyperactive.

The kid I was allocated to. The experience of being a full time nanny for a day.

Group Finance CSR - 15 June 2010.
