Many who know me well enough will know that I am an avid fan of hk tvb shows. (HK tvb shows have to be in cantonese!) Usually a series of 20 episodes will take me about 4 days to finish. I find great enjoyment in chasing after the shows and can even afford to lose my precious beauty sleep over it. Surprisingly, i took 3 weeks to finish a 30 episodes show. (to add to that, the show has 3 handsome hk guys).
Here are the 2 shows that I've watched recently! Shan't give any reviews due to laziness but all I can conclude is that are worth watching.

Continuation of 烈火雄心 1 & 2. 2 handsome HK actors are added to this series. 1 of which is also someone I personally like. And I took 3 weeks to finish it. Record breaking- SLOW!

For those who enjoy detective works with reference to mental issues will love the show.

substructures
Sunday, November 29, 2009 |10:06 PM

Somewhere in one of my comments, a friend commented that I've been doing alot of sports lately. Not sure if this friend saw my reply to the comment. But as I replied him, I recalled something that I read about not too long ago.

This is taken from a book entitled -"Mentoring Paradigms" which my cg dmm is currently using. The very first chapters talks about "Mentoring the Foundation of Life: Superstructure, Structures and Substructures." Not going to talk about the first 2. But what caught me was this word-Substructures.

Substructures:

"...the substructure, the unseen foundation, that our true strength lies."
Without a deep and secure substructure, the structures cannot hold. And the superstructures cannot rise to great heights without peril. That is why more time is always spent on the foundation than on the superstructure. The wise mentor does not neglect mentoring the substructure of life. Who we are, what we do when no one sees, form the substructure of our life.
A life of worship, lived before God in the fear of Him and held together by humility, wisdom and perseverance, constitutes a foundation that will withstand immense stress and strain. The continued maintenance and growth of this substructure, firmly anchored in God through the practice of the spiritual disciplines, is the work of a lifetime."
As Christians, its of utmost importance that we continually build a life that is based upon a strong foundation. Spiritual habits that we must groom all through our life. My way of developing and maintaing these spiritual habits is through sports. When i swim, its the time when I can have extended time to pray, for God to speak into my life and for me to speak to Him as well. Its the avenue for me to hear from Him. Even as I engage in sports like tennis, bowling, its a good avenue of how I can strike a common ground with my friends and look for them often without feeling awkward. Plus doing sports is healthy and it builds stamina. So for Christians out there, find your own way of developing the substructure in your life. :)

An eventful long weekend
|6:05 PM

Hmz if I ain't wrong, this is the 2nd last long weekend before 2009 comes to an end. This long weekend had been an exciting one besides the previous post i blogged about my encounter at the swimming pool for 2 other reasons:

1) My mum was not around. Mum decided a few weeks ago to go for a short trip with her church friends to Kukup which our whole family felt it was good. It has been a long while since she went on a holiday due to her ever busy business. So this time we reached a consensus to set her free. The weird thing was she's supposed to set off on Friday morning however, on Thursday night, while watching her packed I was already missing her. Then came friday and i smsed and called her to check out how is she. Seriously, when Mum's not home, the house is particularly quiet. Nobody nagging at us. Nobody busy doing housework. Well since Mum's not home, Brother and I with my future sis-in-law decided to take my Dad out for lunch and dinner. Lunch was Dim Sum (which my dad foot the bill) while dinner was at Japanese Buffet @ Kushinbo (Brother and I shared the cost).

2) 2009 had been an exciting year for me till date. A year that stretches my faith in terms of giving, a year that I was challenged to "up" my patience level and a year whereby I was called to serve in God's kingdom in a greater capacity. During this season, whereby many are reflecting what happend in 2009, its also the FESTIVE season. A season of giving, celebration, gathering and of cause outreaching! After the "siong" 2 unit events, we had a district event entitled "The Ugly Truth". My role this time was much simpler coz I was just doing finance. We had many good song presenters, guitarists and keyboardists and I really affirm them that they did a very good job. To the organisers as well who put together their brains to carry out the event, good job! Really want to thank God that we manage to meet the targeted attendance that was set for the event and for our cg. For those who weren't able to join us, without further delay, let the pictures and videos speak their story...

The event was held at Singapore Flyer..

The name explains for itself

With nice decorations. I am easily excited by bright lights!

At the door checking the tickets with my lovely partner for the day.

The nicely designed brochure-"The Ugly Truth". Liyi, the peanuts design is so typical of you!

Another picture of my handsome 师傅 and the singer.

Singing his self composed song. One of my best brothers I've known in Hope. Our Friendship dates back to 2004! So glad we came a long way...

Can't remember what song Rachel was singing. But she looks very 陶醉

With Megan singing 花火- 梁咏琪.

Not forgetting my sacrificial cgl - Jeremy on the left singing "Better Man" with Kelvin.

Our Special guest for the day - Nel. She's got a powerful voice and very expressive!

Thanking all those who sang and for those who organised.

interesting encounter at the pool
Saturday, November 28, 2009 |11:11 PM

Shan't beat about the bush for this post. But i really want to blog about this interesting encounter at the pool today. Sometimes i really think i am damn "sway" at the swimming pool. The first being that i met 2 brothers from my church before at the pool operated by my office. It's 1 incident I will never forget. Another incident is what happened today.
As usual I went to swim on a beautiful Sat morning. As I entered the pool I saw this guy. (Don't mistaken me. I didn't notice him because he is handsome but because he's wearing a pink googles) But I realise something, the stare at me was funny. Initially, I thought I was just being sensitive however, as I continued swimming I notice that the stare was kind of funny. After swimming for about 10 laps, I got tired and rested near the edge of the pool. Then while i was resting and tanning, the guy just said "hi". My initial response "eh..yah.." Well i really didn't know how to respond. Subsequently, he kept asking questions like "do you work here?", "do you stay around here?", "do you come here often?" etc and all I could give are 1 word answers like "yah" and "no". The situation was abit weird and argh...because he was next to me and refuse to leave the pool I had to stay in the water for a prolonged timing and my skin felt as if it's becoming old grandmother's hands! Finally I heard him left the pool and right after he left, I immediately jump out and headed straight to the shower. :p

reading news
|12:37 AM

Just when everyone thought markets are recovering, bank are on their way to recovery. Their name got tainted again. Was reading bloomberg and channelnewsasia earlier and all the breaking news were talking about the Dubai Woes. News just keep flooding in about the state which Dubai is in, banks which has the highest exposure and stock markets tumbling on the news of this. Good luck to the auditors of the respective banks this year, another year of write downs? Now i wonder how the SG stock market will perform when markets re opens on Monday.

Here in my life - Hillsongs United
Thursday, November 26, 2009 |1:48 PM

Verse 1:

I have never walked on water
Felt the waves beneath my feet
But at Your word Lord
I'll receive Your faith to walk on oceans deep
And i remember how You found me
In that very same place
All my failings surely would have drowned me
Still You made a way

Chorus:

You are my freedom
Jesus You're the reason
I'm kneeling again at Your throne
Where would I be without You
Here in my life
Here in my life

Verse 2:

You have said that all the heavens
Sing for joy at one who finds the
Way to freedom truth of Jesus
Bought from death into His life
And I remember how You saw me
Through the eyes of Your grace
And though the price was Your Beloved for me
Still You made a way

amuse me.
Tuesday, November 24, 2009 |10:26 AM

Last evening, while waiting for my friends to arrive for our regular tennis session. I saw this scene and it kind of amuse me. Firstly, i never understood why do people dress so weirdly when they are playing tennis-> long sleeve with Capri pants? Its really weird. Secondly, the actions are really amusing. Looks more like a 陪打rather than someone who wants to play the game. While watching them playing the game, I just can't help but burst out laughing at the actions. Enjoy this short clip.

is this better?
Monday, November 23, 2009 |12:04 PM

change my blogskin. received a few comments saying that my previous skin is too pinkish. So for the sake of others fearing that i may hurt their eyes, i've decided to change to this skin. Don't you think it looks very 温馨?Its Kitty and friends. I think evelyn will love this skin because besides hello kitty being in it, mymelody is also inside. :)))

new bag.wedding.birthday
Saturday, November 21, 2009 |10:23 AM

The past weekend has been eventful and now its Sunday. In less than 24 hours, it'll be back to work on a Monday. But..the following week is going to be short with only 4 working days and a long weekend. Yipee!! Its almost the end of the year with many happenings and loads of weddings and its the time of the year where my pocket is drained! (besides weddings, friends going for holidays and me asking them to help buy stuff). To cut the story short, let me just do a short recount of what happened..

1) Arrival of my new bag

After eyeing a coach bag for ages, i really have to thank Hazel and Boon for flying to the states because i managed to order a coach bag and i got it! Yipee! Its really much cheaper than the price offered in SG and its a new design. The best thing is..my mum havent gotten a chance to look @ my new bag. I seriously think she will love it. (can you believe in the past it was her who used to buy bags and i just use. Now its my turn to buy and she uses it). Its time to go shopping with mummy one of these days.

My brand new bag. See the handle still covered.

2)Guang An and Xiao li wedding

The first wedding of our unit. Guang An looks so smart and Xiaoli looks so pretty. (well aren't all brides suppose to look pretty?) So happy for them and to hear how the cg people and their friends appreciate them as well. Truly, their relationship exemplify a Christ like relationship. All the best to this newlywed!

The reason I love weddings because it's always a good time to catch up with old friends and hear other people's love stories. Kaypo me! Yesterday wedding was a good time of catching up with 2 very significant people in my life-> Hazel and Shireen. These 2 ladies were my ex shepherds. Hazel being my 1st and Shireen being the 2nd. I can describe in words how much they have poured into my life. The grace and love that they showed me when i was real terrible, when i bite them and when i throw tantrum. The love that they just continually poured into my life and how they didn't see me through their own eyes but through God's eyes. I think without them, i wouldn't be where i am today. Through them, i learnt to be more patient to my sheep, always show grace to people and see people through the eyes of God. Thank you my dear shepherds that you all have played a BIG role and impacted my life.

3 of us waiting for the wedding to commence. They agreed to help me if i get married in future.

We were saying carrying the cross ain't an easy task. Look this cross looks big and heavy!

Guang An giving his thanksgiving speech in Mandarin and his beautiful bride.

This photo is also a rare one with Liyi. She's a dear sister to me. My ex colleague (who sits next to me) and a sister & friend in church.

Got to take a pic with the bride before leaving the place. Smile :)

3) Joel's 28th Birthday
After the wedding which was held @ Sengkang Methodist Church, the cg and some of our friends headed off to Jeremy's and Joel's house for a birthday celebration as mentioned above. I think i was a happy woman because their house is @ Sengkang, so no need to drive too far. Jeremy did most of the cooking while the rest of us were preparing for the "card". Must really applaud Jeremy because he can cook and i mean nice food. Thanks to Zing and He Wen for painstakingly decorating the fried rice. Food was good, atmosphere was good and we had 2 special guests for Joel as well. (these 2 are her colleagues whom she loves deeply). Thank you Liza and Agnes for making the effort to come.
What truly touched me was how everyone shared about my shepherd-> Joel. In fact i have too much to say about her, i really didn't know where to start. So Joel..if you are reading this. Let me say this: I can't describe the impact you have and going to have in my life. The times when you challenge and thus antangonise me to get out of my comfort zone, i truly appreciate it. You are a wonderful shepherd who knows how to love me in the way i want. I thank God for giving me such a wise shepherd, friend and sister in christ and I thank you for believing in me (cause you always say I've got great potential). It is a privilege of being your sheep and serving with you with armourbearers in the cg. So here, i wish you a happy 28th birthday and may you grow prettier, wiser and stronger in the Lord and always be a great supporter to Jeremy!

Nice fried rice cooked by Jeremy and deco with compliments from Zing and He Wen.

Its actually styrofoam board with light purple as the background with all our wishes.

The food we had. There was a pot of curry not yet displayed.

Agnes and Jiexian wasn't here yet. But my flowers have arrived. So we took a pic.

The bouquet of flowers i got for my shepherd. In appreciation of her.

The Birthday girl.

With me giving her well deserved present.
4) My springs are sold!
This is my thanksgiving point of the week! Why? The reason is because to me selling my springs require faith. Faith to believe i will be able to find a buyer for it. Many would ask.."Springs very hard to sell meh?" My answer " For Nissan March..yes it's hard." The reason being, March owners are usually girls and girls don't usually modify their cars. To make it worst, the springs for March are exclusively for March. No other cars can use it. I remember 2-3 months ago, it took me quite a bit of heartache to post my springs for sale online. At that point in time, the springs were still on my car. The reason for not taking it out as yet was-> i will take it out when i find a buyer. But months passed and there were little calls or calls asking but their cars ain't suitable. But just last week, i made the decision that kind of broke my heart to remove the springs from my car. The decision didn't come easy but it was a worthy decision. With a car that was super low, it caused alot of inconvenience to the people around me. I wasn't able to ferry too many people without fearing that my car will hit the hump whenever i crossed it. I was convicted that my car should be used for greater purpose and thus springs were changed back to the original. But guess what..a week later. God provided! I received an sms early in the morning and it was asking me about my springs. Initially, i was abit sianz coz i expect someone with an incompatible car asking me. The person didn't even ask me if its compatible and i told the buyer "the springs can only be used on a march. don't ask so much if you aren't driving a march. so what car do you drive?" I think most people won't ever expect a seller to be so ATTITUDE! But but..BINGO! The buyer is driving a March!!! The best deal was the price we negotiated was the price i always wanted! God is faithful even when i am faithless.
5)Random
Finally..to end my long winded post. Just some random shots that the cg took after lunch at a different place. We took photos @ the roof top of Orchard Central (which the cg described as Mervin's favourite place).

This stainless steel man turns according to the direction of the wind.

Its a rare sight to see Elaine with us! The sisters in the cg wanted to imitate what the girl is doing. Thanks to Joel's idea. We look cute eh?

amazed @ myself
Friday, November 20, 2009 |12:46 AM

was having lunch with a colleague yesterday and she was asking me about the upcoming dept xmas lunch event. our conversation goes like this:

she: "how's the xmas event?"

me:"don't know. tomorrow first meeting."

she:"oh ya..i heard it. These kind of event must be organised by people like you. More lively. Not like me this kind of 老古董."

A moment of silence as i was gathering my thoughts and i gave this reply...

me:"actually don't say this about yourself. You don't need to be ra-ra to serve. You just need to have the servanthood spirit and the heart to serve others. That's the most important."

Silence again..she nodded her head. Seriously, I am amazed at how these kind of words can come out from my mouth. But that's what i really wanted to tell her. Serving others is never about your abilities but its more about your heart. I reckon i don't have the best of abilities/skills. But my heart wants to serve people. So I am placed there. :)

updates updates!
Thursday, November 19, 2009 |4:13 PM

Its 4.12pm and i can blog. It goes to show 1 thing. i am VERY free. Today's a little quiet in the office or should i say it exceptionally quiet with many people not in the office. Most of my colleagues are clearing their leave *envys* and here i am sitting in the office not having much to do. (by the way i ain't slacking ok!) It's just the time of the month whereby there ain't much happenings. It can get quite bored and fortunately i have twitter, facebook and msn to entertain me. (though i am often on busy mode on msn, its just for show only). A few updates since my last posting and i shall go by point form.

1) More self discovery:

As i mentioned in my previous post, our department had the "communication and relationship management" training and we did our profiling. My Result-> Advancer-Executor. Advancer is my primary and executor being the secondary. What's an advancer some are asking. Ok let me share with you all.

Advancer (Coordinator) - Spontaneous/Normative Approach

Description: The Advancer recognises ideas and new directions early in their stages and develops the means to promote or advance them. When presented with an idea, she thinks about how to get it implemented, using insightful planning based on past experiences and successful mehotds. The Advancer may initially respond to ideas with skepticism, but will let accepted norms and her feelings guide her. She derives satisfaction from instilling a sense of purpose in the team, and promoting that purpose with single-mindedness and determination. Her actions are directed to achiveing objectives by the most direct, efficient means, and she is not inclined to let rules and boundaries discourage her. The Advancer is able to focus on many things at once, and may move from one subject to another. She enjoys respect and influence.

Contribution: Energetically promoting team objectives. Recognises the vlaue of a new idea or trend and actively carrying it forward.

Weaknesses: If left alone, the Advancer may move ahead to implement concepts that aren't completely thought through, ignoring danger signs and realistic barriers to successful implementation.

Instinct: Identifying interesting ideas or possibilities and moving swiftly to see them implemented.

When i was reading this, it caught me and YES that's me. If i capture the vision, i run the race with you. If not, then slowly wait for me to slack and catch up.

2) With faithfulness, you are given more...

How should i put it. Just last week my manager came to me and told me that i have been appointed to do a write up on the process improvement for the dept. Phew..luckily its only writing can't imagine if i have to present the idea. Then early this week, my colleague came to me and say.."Meiming, you've been appointed to be in our team for the Dept Xmas gathering." I looked at her and say "hmzz seems like i ain't got a choice. ok then." Actually i should say i am honoured to be part of the team. A dept of 60+ people and they choose only 4. I think i am kind of likeable. :p hiaks hiaks.

3) Mid year performance review and career development planning:

For the past few days, we have been busing doing our MY performance review and CDP. My mid year performance review- so far so good with meeting expectations. As for the career development planning, its really a pain and i am dead serious about it! They ask you things about your job history, your key achievements, your long term career goals, key strengths/gifts/talents, weaknesses in skills/knowledge/competencies, work life balance, short term career goal and current action plan. Can you imagine i have to CRACK my brain to think! Pls i really think i never "smoke" though i am good at it. :p

4) Miscellaneous:

a) Finally after a long wait, i'll be getting a new wardrobe (95% confirmed). All thanks to my brother who's getting married next year. My mum insisted that though he's only be a temporary resident after his marriage but still there needs to be renovations and his wardrobe is 1 of the things my mum wanted to renovate. So i am able to hitch on it as well. *hiaks hiaks* my new wardrobe will be 1.5 times bigger than my current one. :)

b) After 1.5 years of having a super low car always scrapping the humps when i cross it, i've finally changed it back to the original springs. To be frank, i really ain't used to it and my car don't look as nice as before also. Oh well, but for Kingdom's sake of being able to drive more people about. I've made the decision. No regrets. Now my car can only ferry heavy weight people. So light weighted people..bye bye.

c) Finally let something off my chest. Over the past month, i haven't been talking much to someone. Not that i don't love her but there is something that i don't know how to break it out to her. At last, on monday, i told her the truth and i hope things can move on from here.

d) Lastly, took this photo last sunday during the unit dmm. A few of us (Siew Qin, Yanjie, Adrian, Seeto, Weilong, myself and joel) were having and suddenly came the rest who came to surprise Joel for her birthday. I really like this photo. :)

That's all for my updates. Till i update again. Sayonara~~

CHANGE!
Friday, November 13, 2009 |12:23 AM

Very often the above word is often not well received by people. CHANGE! yes people love to stay in their comfort zone, remain status quo. People hate change. Change ain't only not well received among the older generation but it also occurs in the Gen-Y. Being a Gen-Y myself, i too resist change or should i say, i don't like the word because i enjoy being in the comfort zone however, today i notice some thing about me that have changed.

Today i attended a training seminar organised by my department -> communication and relationship management. In the past, whenever i attend seminars and the trainer asks for participation, i will usually just sit at my place and keep quiet. Its rare for me to just speak up. However, ever since i joined the core team in my cg about half a year ago, this element in me have changed. Yes it has! As part of the core team in cg, we ( as armourbearers) are often encouraged to take the initiative to share. Share in terms of thanksgiving, thoughts about sermons and even discussion during cg/dmm etc. So...because of all these training in cg, as i reflect, i notice that i've changed. Today during the training, i actually spoke out openly and simply just contributed/threw ideas and because of active participation, the seminar actually ended half and hour earlier. :)

n.o.n.e
Sunday, November 01, 2009 |9:41 PM

i don't know how i should title this entry because many things are running through my mind while i am blogging this entry. As i mentioned in my previous posts, the past 2 months have been crazily busy. Ever since i got to know i was "enlisted" into our unit's outreach planning team some time in July. I was like "uh oh" should i consider it good or bad? The initial decision that made up the team was all the core team in the unit ->seetoh, yanjie, hewen, zing, adrian and myself and led by xiaoli and joel as our advisors. However, the final team combination was -> weilong, yanjie, hewen, adrian and myself still led by xiaoli and joel as our advisors. The team finally met up sometime in Aug officially @ East Coast Macdonalds to brain storm for ideas what should we have for as our events. Xiao li and Joel came up with Paint ball for our first event and all of us readily agreed. Transport was easily settled with dinner easily available. So everything was like not much planning needed and i must say i was like "lalala" kind of mood. The team evaluated on the first event and of course improvement points were mentioned. Then in a short period of time, we had to plan for our 2nd event. When the team first met in Aug'09, we came up with ideas to have things like car boot sales, car rally etc.. but in the end all these ideas were scrapped and we had to brain storm again for ideas..finally sometime in Sep, 3 events came up-> Go kart, Dragon Boat and Night Cycling. In fact, it was between go kart and Dragon Boat. Adrian was in charge of Go Kart while Yanjie was in charge of Dragon Boat. But well since Yanjie had to sail for a good 12 days, so i followed up on the research of the Dragon Boat. After 2 other meetings, a sudden email was sent our and the final decision -> Go Kart. (in the course of it, in fact dragon boat was like a "kiv")

The team drew lots on 1 fateful sat-> 19 Sep while i was happy holidaying in Beijing and the team leader emerge to be Weilong while adrian was in charge of publicity, yanjie-> accounts and administrative while hewen and i was doing logistics. When i saw i was doing logistics, it was like aiya..easy lah. We got all the contacts readily available liao. But due to a turn of events, logistics was no longer readily available and i have to start the search all over again for logistics. The search was tough. In my earlier posts, i said of looking up yellow pages and calling the respective Singapore transport companies 1 by 1 to enquire. Then i search up the malaysia yellow pages as well and did the same thing. That was the beginning of my agony. But thank God He sent an "angel" to me and helped me in this. Soon, logistics was settled.

Then next came our dinner place. Our initial idea was to have dinner @ a Korean dining place. Well to search for the place was a big headache. To call up the place and speak to the person was also terrible. Heard of a chicken and duck communicating? yes that's it! Just as i thought it was all over, a few days just before the event, someone highlighted to me the issue of cost. If the bus is already $15/pax and the dinner was to be so expensive, it would blow everyone's budget. So we had to re-look @ the dinner. By the time i was already so vex and i told adrian about it.Somehow i was really frustrated why did a team of 5 become a team of 3? Adrian kindly held a con-call with weilong and myself to discuss this matter through and we had a conclusion, we will relook @ the dinner place. Then after much liasing with the guy in charge of the coach, we settled on our dinner place.

Just as i thought all these were all over and we collected payment on 30/10 (just the night before the event), we had people telling us they aren't able to go. The good thing is, weilong enforced that since the people had earlier confirmed their attendance they still have to pay up. So we manage to collect the total payment for the bus.

From the series of events above, God worked in my life. Well first of all, God put me in an area which i never felt competent about. Logistics..never have i dealt in this area. Then God tested me in the area of "are you a good follower?". In fact, this question, my cg leader, Jeremy also asked me before "are you a good follower?". While i was reflecting, i could have reacted against Weilong's decision for the sudden email about the decision that it was Go Kart coz afterall, quite a bit of effort was put into researching for Dragon Boat as well. But i was glad i didn't. I just supported him in this decision and followed through it to support him. Another major area i was tested was also the heart to outreach. I remember every morning while doing quiet time, i was like "God...send the people." What was put in my heart was "the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few." Finally, 1 last area was this. I checked up the weather forecast and it turned out that sat was supposed to be a stormy day. Even on friday afternoon, lightning, thunder and heavy downpour struck our sunny island. So on Friday evening, i decided that i should just fast and pray for the event. In fact, i was really really hungry coz i didn't eat much for lunch that day. But i felt it was really needed because no matter how good the planning, event can be, if God is not in the picture, it all comes to ZERO.

Sat (The d day finally arrived) and the weather in the morning was still looking gloomy..but as the day passed the skies cleared up! After a few minor hiccups, we finally reached the place. Friends and members enjoyed themselves and some even played 2 rounds. So glad that the whole thing ran smoothly and it was more interactive compared to the first one. Most importantly, i am so thankful God was in it all.

35 satisfied faces. (Yanjie went back to SG after lunch while Double K was still going for his 3rd round.) Look @ the clear blue skies!

Of coz the above video clip is your dear princess..signing off here :)
