a test of integrity

as many know i left my previous profession as an auditor about 2 weeks ago. have not looked back since then. well because i have more time hand. but this post is not about how free i am in case people envy me but its something about integrity which i really wish to share. in my old co,all auditors are issued calculators and if we lose it when we resign we have to pay $20. for no reason i don't know why mine went missing when all along every one knows i use a pink hello kitty calculator.
on my last day i was suppose to return the calculator. in fact many of my colleagues actually told me that i should just take someone else calculator and return it to the company. Tempted as i was, the spirit inside me told me..that this is not right. so in the end i didn't. In fact i went to buy a calculator to replace it. However, my ex co told me..they can't accept a canon calculator because the co company accepts a canon calculator. so they say deduct $20 from my pay.
i was really pissed that a casio 12 digit calculator costs $20!!! these few days i walked a few stationery shops around bukit merah and i found out that a 12 digit casio calculator only costs $10!!!!! so today i called my ex co and asked how could they charge $20 for it when it costs only less than $10!! and the reason -> oh to be a penalty..and i said $10 penalty!!!!! i seriously am very angry lo...
then till now i haven receive my pay check...that pisses me off even more..and i told them u give me back my $20.i give u back a calculator. and they were saying "oh your pay check already issued.if you want back $20. we got to re-issue the cheque." whaa piss me off...i was like "can't you give me petty cash???" then the hr just say no we have to re-issue your pay cheque...its really non-sensical la. its not that i am super niao over that $20 but i really am pissed over it...but have to wait for my pay cheque again...
